Maria Over is an artist and illustrator of Dutch and Greek heritage, currently based in Munich, Germany. Working primarily in watercolor, she is known for lush, expressive compositions featuring florals, birds, and figurative elements, often inspired by nature and storytelling.
Her work spans licensing, jigsaw puzzles, home décor, stationery, and publishing. With a BFA in Sculpture from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in The Hague and an MA in Studio Art from New York University, Marias practice is shaped by a rich international background, including experience as an art director, jewelry designer, and creator of large-scale retail window illustrations. Her watercolor style is rooted in observation and curiosity, drawing from collected textures, colors, and moments that evoke memory and place. Outside the studio, she enjoys exploring flea markets for vintage finds, upcycling discovered objects, and spending time with her two children. Whenever possible, she travels to Greece, where the sea, light, and atmosphere become a quiet well of inspiration that flows back into her illustrations.
